World Travel Market Preparations: Business Cards

Only a little over a month remains until the London 2013 World Travel Market. I have my press pass, the hostel is booked, plane tickets are purchased and now I have my business cards! I used moo.com, and it was really such a great experience. I used the “Great Escapes” Template. I loved the color scheme and layout on the front, and on the back, you can choose 5 of your own photos that will alternate on the cards…

*There isn’t actually a blank space under “Two Thumbs Travels”, I just figured the internet isn’t the best place to display my personal cell phone.

You can use the photos on the back as a mini photography portoflio, like I did with the New York and Key West Photos, or have photos of yourself to make them remember you, like the skydiving and paddle-boarding shots…. or you can have a picture of your cat, just because you can…

Anyway, the cards are made really well. They’re not flimsy and cheap feeling, like cards I had previously purchased from a large office supply retail chain. I also love the matte finish and rounded corners, but there are many other options also. Plus, they come in a really cute little black box so you can carry them around and not get them damaged or lost.

The shipping was incredibly fast too. I ordered them on September 15th and the confirmation said they would arrive by September 25th. This is why I was fairly surprised when they came in the mail only 5 days after I placed the order and 5 days before they were due to arrive.

I wanted the cards to look professional, but stand out with a little humor (Cat Lady) and I couldn’t be happier with the results. I highly recommend moo.com for not only business cards, but all kinds of promotional materials. Go check out their website!

Side notes: I would like to point out that I know the scratches on my desk are terrible and I will be refurbishing and posting about it as soon as time allows. Also, I will only have 8 weeks of class left for my B.A.S. after the WTM, but it would be a huge waste of money hassle to make these and then have to order new ones 8 weeks later, so I decided to include it on there already. I hope that doesn’t offend anyone!

Kitten Crazy Level: Plastic Wrap

I’ve been a little silent recently because I’ve had a monumental amount of school work. Recently though, I was able to make a trip to Ikea (love that place!) to buy some mattresses. Their mattresses come in impossibly tight rolls covered in plastic. I ended up with four pieces of plastic and a large blue tarp, from the box spring, all in one big pile. For most people, that’s just a big pile of garbage. For Kitten, that is heaven. Crazy, Cross-eyed Heaven. So to apologize for my absence, I give you a few pictures of my immensely adorable Kitten…

Just. Tired.

Forget “Happy as a pig in mud.” Now it’s “Happy as a Kitten with plastic.”

Take a Cat Video They Said…

After watching WAY TOO MANY cat videos online yesterday, I decided I would try to film one myself. I didn’t really have a plan, I was just going to film and see what came out of it. As you can see from the above video, he was less than cooperative. Every time I would start to film, he would move to the most inconvenient spot…

6X0A4217

Ordinarily he is the least cuddly cat you can possibly imagine. Try to take his picture though, and he becomes ridiculously clingy. I did get a few decent shots in, before giving up..

I’m very sad that this last one was blurry, but I still love it.

Have a good Caturday, everyone…

Kitten Crazy Level: Finals Week

IMG_0175

I am in the middle of studying for my Spanish final and Kitten jumps on my desk, lies down and proceeds to use my hand as a pillow. How am I supposed to move my hand and keep working when he is this cute? Apparently, it was all an act of love and sympathy, because when I did move my hand and attempt to adjust the keyboard, I was met with some resistance…

IMG_0176

Was he saying, “No. Go take a nap!” ? I think so. Sweet, thoughtful Cat.

Kitten Crazy Level: 420

DISCLAIMER! I do not allow the cat on the kitchen counter. Ever. The catnip made him lose his mind. I’m not sure why Kitten has recently developed an affinity for cooking surfaces either..

I was in my study writing a post about New York bagels and listening to iTunes and I kept hearing a plastic bag rustle, but I didn’t really pay any attention. After about 10 minutes it finally occurred to me. I ran to the kitchen and this is what I saw…

We were at the flea market earlier that day and we picked up some catnip along with a few other plants. I guess he smelled it from the floor, because the counters in the kitchen are 100% off-limits. He is never up there. Yes, it was bad that he was on surfaces where we prepare food, but I figured he’d already been there for a few minutes so taking a couple of pictures wouldn’t hurt anything…

Kitten Crazy Level: Mall Cop

I’ve posted 3 or 4 posts that weren’t about my cat since my last Kitten post, so I’m allowed to post a new one right? I think so. I just don’t understand how or why cats do some of the things that they do. For example, walking along the top of a 6 ft. fence on that tiny little piece of wood that sticks out of the side. How wide could that be? an inch?

6X0A3002

He was being The Great Protector and surveilling a neighborhood cat who was thinking of partaking in some of his kibbles. The nerve of some cats! In Kitten’s effort to protect his territory he was nimbly pacing up and down the whole fence line with no problem. Cats have amazing dexterity.

6X0A2998

Then he would “rest” with all four paws piled on one tiny fence post. Silly cat…

Kitten Crazy Level: Camouflage

Unfortunately, it’s not very easy for white cats to camouflage themselves, at least not in Florida. The morning is when Kitten is the craziest. All the unsuspecting leaves and dirt mounds have to really be on the lookout for an attack. Sometimes though, he gets too excited and he turns on his camouflage. This means anything from hiding inside an actual bush to crouching behind a single blade of tall grass. Then he makes this face…

6X0A2878

This is what you see from afar…

6X0A2868

“There’s no cat here.”

6X0A2874

6X0A2873

ATTACK!

6X0A2876

Kitten Crazy Level: Assassin

Kitten always chooses the most inconvenient times to be ridiculously cute. For example, when I’m supposed to be studying for a Spanish exam… He makes this face…

6X0A2837

then he attacks a helpless blanket…

6X0A2816

That doesn’t satisfy his thirst for action, so he sneaks up on my unsuspecting elephant…

6X0A2823

First came the exploratory pat..

6X0A2826

Then the full on attack..

6X0A2828

6X0A2829

6X0A2832

A good indicator of his current level of crazy is the claws. He may have sweet round “Puss in Boots” eyes, but he also has a Mufasa-like grip on the couch..

6X0A2815

Cross-Eyed Monster

What is it about cats that makes it necessary for them to crawl into every open door, cabinet, crevice or in this case, carpet roll?

6X0A2559

We also have a Husky who sheds on EVERYTHING. We were in the process of de-hairing our floors when we threw all the rugs outside. When we went back to get them all, this is what we found.

6X0A2555

Pretty cute, huh? I was able to get a few quick pictures before the dog came over and sniffed his butt, which caused a minor heart attack on the cat’s part. They actually get along pretty well. By “pretty well” I mean they try to each pretend the other doesn’t exist. That’s good enough for me!

Kitten is the cats name (I’m not good with the whole naming thing, obviously. Hopefully, I improve before I have kids. I have a feeling naming all of my children “Baby Human” would be frowned upon) and the dogs name is Keen. It’s a good thing he was already named when we got him. If not, I’m afraid he would have been “Puppy” or “Little Husky Puppy” if I were feeling fancy. I guess it’s only fair to put a picture of “Little Husky Puppy” on here too…
