Kitten Crazy Level: Camouflage

Unfortunately, it’s not very easy for white cats to camouflage themselves, at least not in Florida. The morning is when Kitten is the craziest. All the unsuspecting leaves and dirt mounds have to really be on the lookout for an attack. Sometimes though, he gets too excited and he turns on his camouflage. This means anything from hiding inside an actual bush to crouching behind a single blade of tall grass. Then he makes this face…

This is what you see from afar…

“There’s no cat here.”

ATTACK!

Kitten Crazy Level: Assassin

Kitten always chooses the most inconvenient times to be ridiculously cute. For example, when I’m supposed to be studying for a Spanish exam… He makes this face…

then he attacks a helpless blanket…

That doesn’t satisfy his thirst for action, so he sneaks up on my unsuspecting elephant…

First came the exploratory pat..

Then the full on attack..

A good indicator of his current level of crazy is the claws. He may have sweet round “Puss in Boots” eyes, but he also has a Mufasa-like grip on the couch..

Red Cat: 1 Cat Trap: 0

Yesterday I posted about the “Cat Traps”  that we put out. It was really just a box we set outside. If you have a cat, you know what happens when you set an empty box anywhere, leave a cabinet open or clear off a space on your desk so you can study. These are all various forms of cat traps. Well the past few days have been rainy and cold (for Florida anyway) and the box we put outside was pretty finished. Apparently the cat wasn’t finished with it, though!

This was how it started a few days ago..

Then we come home from the grocery store to find this..

In case you’re thinking we just happened to catch him at a funny moment while he was rolling around, we actually had time to go inside, put the groceries down, find both of our cameras (my mom and I) and take several photos from different angles…

How ridiculous is this cat?

Cats and “Hey Girl”… what could be better?

Domestic Imperfection hosted a Hey Girl link party for Valentines Day. I realize I’m a little late getting on this one, but better late than never! Even though I’m only in my 20’s, I’m already a crazy old cat lady at heart, so I thought it would only be right to Hey Girl my cat…

If you don’t know what “Hey Girl” is, it’s just a silly thing someone started by putting text saying “Hey girl…” and then some cute little saying. Here’s an example:

My favorite one that Ashley at Domestic Imperfection posted was one of her son…

Really cute right? I’m linking mine to the rest of the party, you should go check them out here! Some are ridiculously funny!

Cross-Eyed Monster

What is it about cats that makes it necessary for them to crawl into every open door, cabinet, crevice or in this case, carpet roll?

We also have a Husky who sheds on EVERYTHING. We were in the process of de-hairing our floors when we threw all the rugs outside. When we went back to get them all, this is what we found.

Pretty cute, huh? I was able to get a few quick pictures before the dog came over and sniffed his butt, which caused a minor heart attack on the cat’s part. They actually get along pretty well. By “pretty well” I mean they try to each pretend the other doesn’t exist. That’s good enough for me!

Kitten is the cats name (I’m not good with the whole naming thing, obviously. Hopefully, I improve before I have kids. I have a feeling naming all of my children “Baby Human” would be frowned upon) and the dogs name is Keen. It’s a good thing he was already named when we got him. If not, I’m afraid he would have been “Puppy” or “Little Husky Puppy” if I were feeling fancy. I guess it’s only fair to put a picture of “Little Husky Puppy” on here too…

Vintage Bar Redo for Mother

So my mother got this vintage bar from a thrift shop for $20 a WHILE ago. It was so cheap was because the lock on the bottom section was broken, and no one in the shop could get it open. Well mom figured it out, because she has those wonderful “fix it” qualities that mothers develop over time, and thus we got a sturdy little bar with lots of potential! Then it sat… and sat… for the longest time while we decided what was next. I finally had some extra time to tackle the project over the Christmas break. Here are the before pictures:

If you have cats, you know that in their mind, any open drawer, cabinet, box, ANYTHING is fair game. You get used to it after a while. I pretend they are my person Vanna Whites.

I scraped the newspaper clippings off the side, sanded the whole thing and then filled in any ugly dents or scratches. Then I taped up all my lines with masking tape and got to painting! You can see some of the taping below. That picture was after all the paingting was done, but before the top coat of polyurethane.

I let it dry until the next morning and then I put about 3 coats of polyurethane for a shiny and durable finish.

And that is the finished product! Well semi finished. The lock still has to be repaired, and we have to get a second glass panel made for the middle section… plus I still need to refinish the inside, but whatever, finished for now! The interior light automatically turns on when the door is opened and that little shelf thing slides up and out automatically too. Pretty fancy right? I absolutely love it!
